What is the world’s most dangerous venomous snake?

If the toxicity at the venom was the only criterion, there is little doubt that the sea snake would have pride of place. But other factors have to be taken into account in conjunction with toxicity the snake’s efficiency in injecting venom, its willingness to attack and its accessibility to man, for example. Thus sea snakes, which are dangerous only to barefooted fishermen, come far down the danger scale — if there is such a thing. Probably the most dangerous snake is the cobra, which is highly venomous, aggressive and widespread across Africa and Asia.

Venomous snakes are characterized by the structure of their fangs. For example, the African boomslang has fangs at the back of the mouth, each bearing a groove down which venom flows. The cobra has fangs at the front of the mouth, again grooved; and rattlesnakes and vipers have the most sophisticated biting apparatus: their fangs are hinged, and when they are not in use, fold back along the roof of the mouth. The toxicity of snake venom varies from species to species.
Although one generally finds it easy to elicit the reflexes after one has acquired some experiences it is necessary to make sure that the patient relaxes his limbs and that his attention is distracted from the tests. One should strike the tendon and not the muscle, because in the latter case one tests myotatic irritability and not the tendon reflex. For the deep reflexes it is well to place the limb or muscle in the half way position between contraction and relaxation.
Between the waves a movement, so to speak, there is bizarre posturing of the body and limbs. After a time contractures of the muscles, especially of the feet and torsion of the pelvis become permanent features, in addition to the movement. Myoclonus is a sudden, regular or irregular contraction of a muscle which does not usually produce movement. It appears as if the muscle responded to a faradic current. These spasmodic Contractions generally are observed in the limbs but may be seem in the body and face. Hiccup is a spasmodic myoclonus of the diaphragm.
