These laws are also being conducted to prevent the proliferation of second hand smoke cause’s serious disease and premature death in both adults and children. There are no further questions regarding the truth of the ill-effects of cigarettes to people who smoke and also for those who do not smoke. Second hand smoke is a proven cause of lung cancer and heart disease in adults who do not smoke.

This was also blamed for baby syndrome called sudden death, low birth weight, acute respiratory infections, ear infections and asthma attacks in infants and children. It is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths in the United States each year. There is no risk-free level of second hand smoke. Each exposure has substantial and immediate adverse effects on cardiac and respiratory health. Every cigarette actually contains more than 50 carcinogens.

It is time that comprehensive smoke-free laws in force which will apply to all workplaces and public places. Policy of comprehensive smoke-free workplaces is the only effective way to protect non-smokers from second hand smoke. Other approaches, such as installation of ventilation systems and air-regulation of smoking and non-smoking rooms are not effective and do not eliminate the possibility of exposure. Contrary to what the critics say, the law protects public health without harming business sector. Evidence from peer-reviewed studies show’s that smoke-free policies and regulations have no negative economic impact on the hospitality industry.

With this report, all the arguments and reasons for not taking action are eliminated. Many studies and hard economic data have revealed that Non smoking laws do not harm sales or employment in restaurants and bars. In fact, they sometimes have a positive feedback, like what happened in New York City after the law took effect, business receipts for bars and restaurants increased their employment rose, and the number of liquor licenses increased. This is despite the fact that most companies in accordance with law, and most of New York supported the law.

Another positive outcome is that the smoke-free laws result in significant cash savings. According to statistics from the Society of Actuaries in the United States, second-hand smoke costs the country about U.S. $ 10 billion per year in health care bills, lost wages, and associated costs.

Even the business world has joined the bandwagon by maintaining a smoke-free workplace and to provide special areas for smoking. Some countries, states, provinces, territories, and districts have adopted a full ban on smoking in restaurants and bars. Second hand smoke, or passive smoking, is the leading cause of preventable death. Since smoking hurts people more than just smokers, smoke free laws should be enforced at any time to protect everyone’s right to breathe clean air.
